Fluvial Organic Carbon Composition Regulated by Seasonal Variability in Lowland River Migration and Water Discharge

نویسندگان

چکیده

Identifying drivers of seasonal variations in fluvial particulate organic carbon (POC) composition can aid sediment provenance and biogeochemical cycling studies. We evaluate changes POC the Río Bermejo, Argentina, a lowland river running ?1,270 km without tributaries. Weekly concentration isotopic from 2016 to 2018 show that during wet season, increased lateral channel migration generates an influx 13C-enriched 14C-enriched floodplain-sourced material, overprinting 13C-depleted 14C-depleted headwater signature is observed dry season. These findings demonstrate how morphodynamics drive variability rivers, may modulate preserved sedimentary archives.

Fluvial organic carbon losses from a Bornean blackwater river

Concentrations of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and particulate organic carbon (POC) were analysed from the source to the mouth of the River Sebangau in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia during the dry and wet seasons in 2008/2009 and an annual total organic carbon (TOC) flux estimated. DOC concentrations were higher and POC concentrations lower in the wet season compared to the dry season. As see...

Changes in Water Chemistry Along the Course of Two Rivers with Different Hydrological Regimes

Chemical composition of water and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) levels were investigated over three years, along two large rivers in NE Poland, with different hydrological regimes. One river was from lakeland and the second a typical lowland river with forests and high contributions of peatlands in the catchment. The study involved hydrological (specific runoff, river discharge) effects on the...

Variability of organic and elemental carbon, water soluble organic carbon, and isotopes in Hong Kong

To determine the levels and variations of carbonaceous aerosol in Hong Kong, PM2.5 and PM10 samples were collected by high volume (Hi-vol) samplers at three monitoring stations (representing middle-scale roadside, urban-, and regional-scale environments) during winter (November 2000 to February 2001) and summer (June 2001 to August 2001) periods. The highest concentrations of organic carbon (OC...
